Makers Inspiring Kindness and Empathy

A few weeks ago, we were given the opportunity to get involved with a group of amazing people who work together to raise funds for veterans organizations. Of course, we jumped at the offer.

Project M.I.K.E. is a group of talented makers, crafting custom pieces and donating 100% of the proceeds in an effort to support veteran organizations.
You can see all of the available items and learn more about the group at www.projectmike.org

Here is how it works:

Twice a year, this group of makers each builds an item that will be sold with all proceeds being donated to a chosen organization. These items are listed on www.projectmike.org along with information about the organization we are helping at that time.

If a person is interested in purchasing one of the items, they are able to contact the maker directly. Once the purchase is complete, the item is shipped and the proceeds are then donated directly to the charity or organization.

This is a great way for the maker community (mostly based on Instagram) to give back to those who have protected our freedoms. As a maker of wooden American flags, we feel honored to help raise money for those who defend America all around the world.

Ok! So what item did we craft for this first round of donations?

First of all, the veterans' organization is TAPS.
TAPS provides comfort, care, and resources to all those grieving the death of a military loved one. Since 1994, TAPS has provided comfort and hope 24/7 through a national peer support network and connection to grief resources, all at no cost to surviving families and loved ones.

This is our Old Glory Cutting Board. This premium quality edge grain cutting board will make a great statement piece for your kitchen. It measures 19x10x1.5 inches and includes slip-resistant, rubber feet on the bottom for safety. It is built out of Maple, Cherry, and Walnut. We used FDA approved glues and finished it with Walrus Oil which is completely food safe and natural.

If purchased for $165, we will not only be covering the material costs but shipping too. This means the full $165 will go straight to TAPS.

If you are interested in purchasing this board, please email us at projectmike@broadshoulderswoodworks.com

Thank you for your support!
